Megger MFM10 Sheath Fault Location Unit
- Using Bi-polar measuring voltage method
The Megger MFM10 offers an intuitive, menu-driven interface with fully automatic measurement and evaluation, making cable sheath testing and fault detection simple.
- User-Friendly Operation: Data entry follows the proven SebaKMT rotary encoder principle and is supported by a touchscreen for ease of use.
- Powerful Performance: The 10 kV DC source (with positive and negative polarity) allows HV cable testing, while the bi-polar function eliminates external thermoelectric and galvanic interference.
- Flexible Fault Detection: A multi-section feature enables input of cable segments with different parameters, and the high current output (up to 750 mA) can "burn" even difficult cable faults.
- Seamless Reporting: Integrated test logging, combined with Easyprot Software, ensures simple and reliable test documentation.
With these advanced features, the Megger MFM10 delivers precision and efficiency in cable fault testing.
Importance of Sheath Condition
For power cables and particularly for cables in the field of telecommunication, an undamaged cable sheath is an exceptionally important prerequisite to avoid serious cable faults which would influence the quality of supply. The value of a cable is also determined by the condition of the sheath. Irrespective of the tests and diagnoses of the core insulation, the early recognition and elimination of sheath faults has a stabilising effect on the operational quality of a cable system. The sheath fault location system MFM10 was developed for this purpose. This device is used for the general measurement of insulating cable sheaths and, due to its numerous applications, is regarded as the universal device for these measuring requirements. Accordingly, the MFM10 permits in the easiest way the testing of cable sheaths and prelocation and pinpointing of cable sheath faults.

Megger MFM10 - Highly Portable
This highly portable system comes in a durable IP53 wheeled case for easy transport.
- Effortless Testing: Automatic measurement simplifies cable sheath testing, fault pre-location, and pinpointing.
- Easy Setup: A single test lead makes connections straightforward, and the unit can self-test its connections before pre-location.
- Automated Pre-Location: The system automatically determines sheath fault locations—the operator only needs to enter the cable length.
- High-Voltage Capability: The ±10 kV DC output allows testing of HV cables.
- Enhanced Accuracy: The bi-polar function eliminates external thermoelectric and galvanic interference, significantly improving precision.
This system delivers accurate, reliable, and efficient cable sheath fault detection with minimal effort.
