Megger BITE 3 Battery Impedance Tester up to 2000Ah
The Megger BITE 3 is able to test batteries in a string by measuring the battery voltage and impedance. This test is essential to ensure the condition of your assets, as a single weak battery can damage the entire string. The BITE 3 tests the health of the charger by measuring the ripple and float currents. This test is also of vital importance as a charger with a bad rectifier can damage the entire string.
Intercell connections are mechanical connections that change over time due to vibration and moisture, as well as from heating and cooling effects. The BITE 3 measures the resistance of these intercell connections enabling you to locate and fix poor connections.
The BITE 3‘s intuitive user interface allows you to easily find the data stored in the unit, so you can quickly detect where problems might be before you leave the site. Battery strings have different configurations this can make programming a battery tester complicated. The BITE 3 utilises an auto cell strap detection which means no complicated programming is required, just name your string and start testing.

Its measurements, along with temperature, specific gravity and other battery data, can provide the best basis for evaluating the overall health of batteries from terminal plate to terminal plate and to a lesser extent, the charger (from ripple current and its harmonic content.) Megger recommends that the BITE 3 be made part of a comprehensive battery maintenance program with readings taken and recorded semi-annually for flooded, lead-acid cells and quarterly for VRLA.
