How does it work?
The Cable Fault Sniffer samples and analyses gases released when the cable‘s insulation begins to break down. You no longer need to carry out large excavations, simply drill 8 mm bore holes to insert the sensor probes.
Normally, the highest concentration of gas is directly above the fault.
The Cable Sniffer can detect gas from failing joints and insulation at a sensitivity of 60ppm. It can find the fault within 1 meter. This almost ensures that the fault will be found with one dig. This saves the need for many exploratory digs, which can cost about £1000 each!
